CGN Spaces
Welcome to CGN Spaces! Cooperative Grocer Network exists to build community and facilitate the sharing and development of resources among food co-ops and those organizations that support them.
CGN Spaces provide member users with the opportunity to create a community Space around a food co-op department or interest area. Discussions become part of the searchable resources of this site.
CGN member users may apply to join a CGN Space by clicking on the Request Space Membership buttons below or in the text link found in the sidebar of each CGN Space landing page.
Once approved by an administrator, the user will receive an email with more instructions, including the email address that can be used to start a Discussion simply by sending an email.
Please note: though we have made every effort to make this site secure, it will be used by many people. Keep in mind that it IS on the Internet and uses email to distribute content. Per our Terms of Use, no highly proprietary or sensitive discussions or documents should be stored or exchanged within this platform. Use common sense, courtesy, and good judgment when contributing to CGN.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW TO USE CGN SPACES
Spaces include thumbnail views of the members belonging to the Space and a link to the user's Profile.
There are two types of CGN Spaces:
- CGN All –- any CGN member can join and the Discussions are generally viewable by all CGN Members. Only the members of the Space can start, comment, and receive notifications of Discussions.
- Space Only -- Membership is vetted by a Space Leader, and Discussion content is viewable only by the members of the Space.
The Blue Menu bar at the top is a handy navigation tool for getting around CGN Spaces.
Discussion content can include attachments. Access to the attachment follows access to the Discussion post.

Discussions
CCMA
Discussion space for participants in CCMA, the annual Consumer Cooperative Management Association conference organized by the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA).
Open to all CGN Members
CGiN Board and Admin
This Space is reserved for the CGiN board of directors to conduct business, talk about the mission and objectives of CGN, communicate about tasks, have fun, and so on. That extra small "i"? It's in our official name, where information is still the name of the game.
CGN Account Managers
If you are recognized by your co-op as its CGN Account Manager, this Space is specifically for you. It is for CGN Admin and Account Manager communications. These include reminders to:
• update your users after a board election
• check your staff listing and make changes as employees come and go
• vote in the annual CGN board election
The content in this space is Public—accessible to all site users. Note that you can check the box on the right side of the page if you do not want to send out notifications about an update you make to the page.
CGN Finance
Strength in numbers. All accountants and finance people know that!
CGN Front End Managers
Only CGN members can join this space.CGN General
The CGN General Space reaches the broadest audience of CGN users.
This is Space is open to all CGN Members and is used for big picture topics of interest to everyone.
CGN Governance
The CGN Governance Space facilitates discussion about the all-important role of member governance in a food co-op.
This group is designed for enrolled board members of CGN food co-ops and associate member organizations (both current and emeritus, as approved by their co-ops). It also serves food co-op staff and consultants who work with co-op boards.
All CGN members can read the content in this Space. (It is Public—accessible to all site users). Private subsections can be created for any of these groups upon request.
CGN Grocery
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among grocery managers and staff.
CGN HR
The HR Space facilitates the discussion and exchange of ideas and information about human resource management among Human Resource managers and staff.
Membership to this Space moderated by an administrator.
CGN IT
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among information technology managers and staff.
CGN Marketing
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among marketing managers and staff.
CGN Operations
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among operation managers and staff.
This Operations includes a private Section for General Managers.
CGN Owner Services
This Space facilitates discussions and networking among Owner (or Member) Services managers and staff. if you work in Marketing, Outreach, Education or as a Customer Services Manager, you may want to join this group.
Membership to this Space is open and has only one Section: CGN All. This means Discussions may be viewed by all CGN members.
CGN Prepared Foods
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among prepared food managers and staff.
CGN Produce
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among produce managers and staff.
CGN Staff
A Discussion Space only for internal CGN Staff communications and testing.
CGN Startups
This Space builds community and facilitates discussion among the people involved in the particular joys and challenges that come with starting a food co-op.
Membership to this Space is open and has only one Section: CGN All. This means Discussions may be viewed by all CGN members.

CGN Testing
This group is for internal CGN admin to test CGN Space functions only.
CGN Wellness
This Space facilitates discussion and networking among wellness managers and staff.
CGN-UX Improve
The CGN-UX Improve space is for members helping us test and improve the User eXperience (UX) of this website. We started with beta testers but are open to any member who wants to join in.
You can also use the ubiquitous SEND US FEEDBACK form found in the sidebar of almost every page.
NCG Convergence
Community Space for participants in Convergence, the annual product and purchasing expo organized by National Co+op Grocers.
